What do I love more than liquid lipstick? Liquid lipstick with a positive message. The Beauty Crop released a new line of liquid lipsticks called GRLPWR, and I have my first thoughts on the Girl Gang* set of 5 of these liquid lipsticks to share today.

GRLPWR

I’m all for anything that stands for women’s empowerment. I think it can be easy to feel a sense of competition with fellow women on social media; seeing others’ success may have led me down a terrible path a few years ago. I work hard on my content, but worrying about Instagram likes or blog views can’t bring me down. This outlet is a reminder to express myself and a fun way to make friends. Truly being who I am is GRLPWR to me, even if I’m still searching for my full identity.

Girl Gang

The box holding the liquid lipsticks is very cute and has a lot of sassy phrases. Inside, there are 5 shades in a great mix of colors:

Che Guava – a “dusty pink,” though I think it’s more of a balanced, true pink

Date Night – the “brown raisin” is a slightly warm nude

Greige Expectations – “cool-toned grey beige” is my favorite and aptly described

Imma Bawse – a “vampy deep wine” that is a bit more of a red than a wine

Peach Please – “warm pretty peach,” though I’d first describe it as a bright

Swatches are taken in direct sunlight on my arm. Some of the shades are not entirely dried down yet, but I chose the shot that I thought was most accurate. I should also point out that these swatches were still on my arm, completely in tact, 14 hours after this pic.

Application/wear

The first thing I noticed was the scent – it’s that delicious cupcake sort of scent (yes, I’m a sucker for it). The wand is a nice size for smaller lips like mine, as I can efficiently reach all of the little corners. The formula is lightweight and thin, but produces a fairly even coat on the first pass. I generally tend to two passes with a blot in between with all liquid lipsticks.

I have tested both Che Guava and Greige Expectations for wear. They dried down quickly to a matte finish (within 2 minutes or so) and felt neither comfortable nor uncomfortable. They eventually felt a tad drying, about an hour or two in. There was a small amount of transfer when I would take a drink of water (okay, let’s be real, all I drink is Diet Coke). Wear time was different between the two shades. Greige Expectations is a lighter shade and only lasted about 3 hours, while Che Guava lasted about 5 (basically until I ate lunch). I noticed no flaking and both colors seemed to wear away evenly and inconspicuously.

All in all, I’m very happy with this set! I love the positive message and the liquid lipsticks are performing very well so far. I have a discount code – BEAUTYBYJELLYBEAN – that will save you 25% off your purchase if you’re interested (not an affiliate code).
