If I could bring my entire vanity with me wherever I go, I would. When I’m out, I feel like I might need gold eyeshadow, a sheet mask, or my curling iron. I can get by with just a few essentials though and I thought I’d share them with you today! 🙂

1 – SPF

Every other year or so, I like to purchase the annual Sephora Sun Safety Kit to hoard of deluxe samples of SPF. Small sizes don’t take up a lot of space, and I really have no excuse for not bringing along my sun protection (all year round!). I even refill the travel size from full size versions I’ll purchase if I’m particularly in love, which is what I do with the Vita Liberata SPF50 Dry Oil and Supergoop Defense Refresh Setting Mist SPF50. The dry oil is hydrating and adds glow, though it can take a couple of minutes to fully absorb. The Supergoop mist is perfect for spraying on top of makeup without disturbing it.On-the-Go Beauty Essentials

2 – Hand cream

I’m not insanely picky with hand cream. Again, this is a category where I like to hoard deluxe samples to bring along. I really enjoy L’Occitane’s famous shea butter hand cream, which feels soothing, is rich but not too rich, and absorbs quickly.

3 – Lips

My new favorite lip balm is Glossier Balm Dotcom. It feels so good on my lips and keeps them hydrated, perfect if I’d been wearing liquid lipstick. I need to order another one because I always have to add/remove it from my bag every day. [Save 10% off your first order with my link and I get store credit]

Lately, I haven’t really been bringing a lipstick for touch-ups through the day. Instead, I love to slap on some lip gloss. I’ve been using Dr. Dana Lips & Tips*. One side is a great lip gloss to add shine to my lips; the other is a nourishing cuticle oil. I’m so bad at taking care of my nails, but this reminds me to keep up whenever I’m applying lip gloss. My cuticles are in way better shape now!

4 – Powder

I’m a dry skin kind of gal, but I like to bring powder because I do occasionally develop oil on my chin, especially lately (am I becoming less dry?!). The cool thing about bringing along a powder compact is that it can also come with a mirror. My Guerlain Les Voilettes in Clair gets a lot of love from me because it absorbs oil without ever looking cakey. Plus it’s gorgeous to look at. I’m just not a huge fan of using my phone camera to check my teeth for spinach; I much prefer the more classic route of a pretty compact.

5 – Brows

Am I the only one with renegade brows? I’ll have a random tail hair pop up and refuse to sit back down. I like to use disposable mascara wand applicators to comb my brows back to the way I had them. I got this idea from my local Sephora associates, who told me it’s cool if I take a few disposable applicators with me for later. Alternatively, I like to bring along my beloved Glossier Boy Brow. This stuff locks down my brows and adds a bit of texture. If I’m not wearing any makeup, I still just use this. See link above to save money on your first Glossier order 🙂
