Update: I no longer support Kat Von D Beauty and have removed any affiliate links from this post. I have not otherwise changed the contents of this post for anyone looking for an objective review of the eyeshadows themselves.
Kat Von D has a ton of new releases coming up! New shades of her Everlasting Liquid Lipsticks and the new Metal Crush Eye Shadows are due to be released July 17. However, some of these new items have been arriving early in several Sephora locations! I was able to snag three liquid lipsticks last week. Then, my local Sephora had 4 of the 11 new Kat Von D Metal Crush shadows recently. I picked up all 4 that they had: Iggy, Paranoid, Raw Power, and Danzig.
The individual eyeshadows come in a box with a circle cut-out showing the actual product. They come in a plastic case with a clear cover that has Kat’s intials written in her script. Each shadow is $21 and contains 0.10 oz of product, a good size amount (MAC is 0.05 oz, MUFE is 0.07 oz, Makeup Geek is 0.064 oz).
The shadows swatch very easily, as they are pigmented and very vivid.
Danzig is a violet-lavender shade with light blue sparkles. Paranoid is a slightly darker sky blue with matching glitter. Raw Power is a dark burgundy-orange shade with lighter red-gold sparkle. Iggy is a sage green with light blue-green glitter.
The shadows remind me a lot of the MUFE Artist Shadows in terms of texture and performance. They are smooth, not completely buttery, but still apply nicely on the eye. They’re fairly easy to blend, but the glitter adds a hint of difficulty to the process. Although the shadows are still vibrant without primer, I did find that a primer makes the shadows last a lot longer, in addition to allowing the shadows to pop even more. I’d say the shadows only lasted about 2 hours without primer before creasing.
I do really enjoy these vibrant shadows! I can’t wait to purchase more. They’re amazing on the lower lash line for a pop of color. For the price, you do get a lot of product, but I would have preferred a smaller size with a smaller price tag.
