Lipsticks are my makeup weakness. Every new color always seems slightly different than one I already have. Lately, I have been trying to resist new collections and shades, as I am starting to feel overwhelmed by my collection. I can only be so strong, so I used a discerning eye to choose just two shades from the more recently launched Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche line: Sake and Thistle.
Sake is a “dusty mauve” that is completely wearable with just a hint of excitement and intrigue. With the same spirit, Thistle is a “mauve infused taupe” that is a bit less wearable and far more unusual.
The Amuse Bouche formula does not disappoint: creamy, opaque, long-wearing, comfortable – you get the picture. The finish is beautifully satin, though occasionally I blot to leave a more matte finish.
The scent is fruity and citrusy; it reminds me of the Fruit Stripe gum I’d get when I was a kid (does anyone else remember this gum?? what a throwback). I quite like it, though those sensitive to scents may find it troubling.
I really love that these lipsticks are hand-crafted in small batches, plus contain “a balanced blend of lip-quenching nutrients, vitamins, and omega oils that are essential for achieving healthy-looking lips.” No wonder they feel so amazing on!
At $26 for 0.15 oz, these lipsticks are on par with a midrange lipstick. Tom Ford lipsticks are more than double the price with only 0.1 oz. The Amuse Bouche are just slightly more expensive per ounce than the new Urban Decay Vice Lipsticks, which are $19 for 0.11 oz.
The Amuse Bouche Lipsticks are stunning. I would love to pick up more shades, but I’ll try my best to resist until my collection is at a more manageable size. If you’re looking to pick up new lipsticks, I highly recommend this line.
