Last week, I went to a conference for work, which lasted from Sunday afternoon to Friday morning. I had to be strategic about the makeup I’d bring because: 1) I wanted to look put-together but not over-the-top; 2) I’d only have a limited time to get ready in the morning, as the days started very early; 3) I tried to bring as few items as possible to keep my travel bag light.
Diorsnow Bloom Perfect Brightening Perfect Skin Creator with Sunscreen
It’s a long story how I ended up with this product, but I absolutely love it. I use it like a primer, as it smooths and evens out my skin tone. I love that it has SPF35 too for an extra bit of protection. Toward the end of the week, I was increasingly exhausted, so I used this product without foundation on top and felt comfortable with my appearance.
Bobbi Brown Skin Foundation Stick in 0 Porcelain
This foundation stick is perfect for travel. I just put a few swipes across my face and blend it in with a brush. It has a natural finish on me with medium, buildable coverage.
Dior Hydra Life BB Eye Creme
This is one of my favorite undereye concealers. It comes in 1 “universal” shade, which is a peachy color that’s perfect for covering my dark circles. It’s very creamy and contains SPF20, so it’s a sort of dual-purpose eye product. Love.
NARS Blush in Sin
I purchased this just before leaving for the conference after falling in love with it in-store. It’s a beautiful mauve-berry shade with a hint of sheen. It is super pigmented, but it blends out very easily. I took a risk by only bringing 1 blush, but it went well with everything I wore.
ColourPop Highlighter in Lunch Money
This is the only product I regret bringing. I hadn’t used it in awhile, but I chose it because I wouldn’t have to worry about one of my powders breaking. I used it in my inner corners and on my cheekbones. It just doesn’t do enough or last long. Obviously I wouldn’t want to go too hardcore with my highlighter, but I wanted to glow at least a little bit.
Kat Von D Shade + Light Contour Palette
Can you tell I love this palette? I used the top left shade to set my undereye area, and I mixed the center and left contour shades to “brontour.” I also used some of the shades as eyeshadow a time or two.
Diorsnow Les Neiges
I’m sorry to show another limited product, but I just love my Les Neiges (I even have a backup). I use them as my last step to blend my face products and as a finishing powder. I use Guerlain Meteorites in a similar manner, but the pressed Les Neiges are more travel-friendly, and the finish is just slightly less powdery.
Diorshow Colour & Contour Eyeshadow & Liner Duo
Unavailable product choice strikes again. I actually thought these were still available. I brought the 3 I own: Iris, Twig, and Orchid (Orchid reviewed here). These are very easy to use: I apply the liner side to my lashline and blend the shadow over the lid and up to slightly above my crease. They also don’t budge throughout the day, so they were perfect for the long hours. If you can still get your hands on these, I highly recommend.
Guerlain Maxi Lash Mascara
I have been through a rough patch recently with mascara. My mascara would just disappear from my lashes – no smudging or flaking – just gone. I decided to bring an old favorite, and it rekindled my love of Maxi Lash. It stayed on my lashes with rich black color that lengthened my lashes with non-clumpy volume. I’d have some slight transfer to my upper lid by the end of the day, but it wiped away easily.
Diorshow Brow Styler in Universal Dark Brown
I kept my brows simple by just combing them with the spoolie end and filling them in slightly. Minimal effort – check.
Tom Ford Lips & Boys in Julian
I just love this shade and, of course, the Tom Ford formula is long-lasting and beautiful. I had no issues using the same shade all week, though I am excited to now be back with my full collection.
I had to use some no-fail favorites for a work conference to quickly apply my makeup while still looking pulled-together.
