I can’t believe there’s just one month to go in 2016. This really hasn’t been the best year though, so I look forward to the fresh start and new outlook 2017 will give me. November did give me some new products to discover to really enhance my routine and allow me to use beauty products to improve my mood.
I haven’t been posting my monthly favorites here on the blog, as I’ve used YouTube for my favorites for the past several months. I did film a video to pair with this blog post, which you can visit here, or see embedded at the bottom of this post.
I wasn’t really a fan of the Too Faced Sweethearts Blushes initially, as I found them to be too sparkly. Earlier this month, I picked up Peach Beach again and couldn’t put it back down. The sparkly finish somehow evolved into a natural, peachy sheen that I found incredibly flattering.
I was a bit surprised by how much I turned to the Natasha Denona Star Eyeshadow Palette this month. I really enjoy Natasha’s new and improved matte formula; they provided a great base for any look. Some of my favorite shadows from the palette are Orion (blue brown duochrome), Vega (light peachy matte), and Titania (taupe brown matte). See my post here for swatches and a comprehensive review.
I absolutely love the new Algenist Reveal Concentrated Luminizing Drops*, especially the shade Pearl. It’s such a beautiful liquid highlighter, with the added benefit of antiaging skincare ingredients. Many highlighters can look like a stripe, but Pearl blends in perfectly while still giving a nice pop. See my post here for swatches and a comprehensive review of all of the Algenist luminizers.
Two lipsticks stole my heart this months: Chanel Rouge Coco Shine in Boy and Urban Decay Vice Lipstick in Violate. Chanel Boy was a gift from my friend Celia, who knew the shade had been on my wishlist for years. It lives up to all of the hype! It’s the perfect “my lips but better” shade for when I want just a bit of shine and a bit of color. Violate has a bit more pop – it’s a purple-pink shade that is somehow incredibly wearable. The Cream finish is really nice; comfortable but just a hint shinier than a typical satin.
I can’t really hate on November, as it was a really good month for my skin. I owe the majority of my good skin month to the Rosalena Rock & Rose Facial Oil and Valentia Night Revive Retinol Serum*. Rock & Rose is a beautiful oil that I use nightly as a moisturizer. I wake up with soft, hydrated, bright skin. I use the Valentia retinol two to three times a week, and have found it not only hydrates my skin, but has really cleared up the texture issues I used to have on my cheeks. This past week, I was a bit lazy and didn’t use the retinol, and I’ve noticed the texture come back. See my reviews for the Rock & Rose oil here and the Valentia serum here.
