I’ve been curbing my beauty spending for the last part of this year after we received some bits of bad news that directly affected our household finances. I have purchased a few beauty products here and there, but only after I returned items I previously bought so that no extra money would be spent. This forced no-/low-buy wasn’t on my to-do list, especially since I didn’t want to skip out on Black Friday/Cyber Monday deals, but I wanted to be able to purchase at least a few Christmas presents for my loved ones.
When I saw a 20% off Ulta coupon arrive in my mailbox, I desperately checked my account to see how many points I had. Lo and behold, I had 2500 pts, which is enough to go on a $125 shopping spree.
Decisions, decisions! Honestly, I find it very difficult to shop with Ulta online, mainly because I do not like their website organization. I shop with Sephora far more frequently for their easy-to-use website. It took several days to put together my cart, but I am fairly happy with what I grabbed.
I’ve been on the hunt for a tinted brow gel for lazy brow days, so I picked up Benefit Gimme Brow in 5 Deep. I’ve used it a few times since my order came in, and I really like it. The shade is a great match and I love the small wand for precise application.
Anastasia Beverly Hills single shadows are pretty expensive at $12 a pop. However, if you buy 4, they’re down to $10 each, plus you get a quad case. I really like ABH singles, especially the metallic-type shades. I picked Amber (titanium finish, gold), Birkin (matte finish, warm beige), Chiffon (titanium finish, antique gold), and Rose (metallic finish, pink).
Speaking of single shadows, I grabbed another Z palette. I am a little irritated with myself, I mistakenly ordered the Dome palette. The Dome palette is a bit deeper for thicker depotted shadows, and seems like it might be challenging to put regular single shadows in it as I desire.
I saw one of my favorite mascaras, Per-fekt Liquid Lash Curler, in the sale section for half off, so I went for it. I love the curved wand shape and the formula is volumizing and long-lasting.
I got a sample of YSL Mon Paris from a Play! by Sephora box and I’ve been obsessed with it. When it seemed like it was also man-approved, I went for the rollerball. The product is super cute with the bow, but it’s actually a spray, not a rollerball (which is fine by me).
Two Urban Decay Vice Lipsticks jumped into my cart: Crisis, a plum-rose cream, and Backtalk, a mauve-nude-pink comfort matte. I love the Vice lipsticks I have and, of course, these two do not disappoint. Both shades are gorgeous. Crisis is very flattering but kind of different, it reminds me a bit of Kat Von D Lolita. I’ve seen lots of raves about Backtalk, it’s a perfect pinky nude.
I love Ulta’s reward system, and I saved my points for the perfect holiday pick-me-up for myself. I was able to get $188.50 worth of items for just $8.50! I’m excited to play with my new goodies. As with anything you spot here or on Instagram, let me know if you want to see a review.
