Spring is coming! It’s still dark when I’m leaving work, but my sinuses are telling me that the seasons are definitely shifting. And maybe here in Boston, we don’t really get a fantastic spring, as there’s usually snow on the ground until May. I still love spring, despite the month-long cold I’ll get and the chilly Boston weather.
I’ve picked out some blushes that say “almost spring time” to me. Is that weird? Blush is one product I didn’t really understand for a long time; my face was so red, blush used to look terrible on me. Now that I’ve got my redness (mostly) under control, I’ve become a blush addict. These are my picks for the next month or so while I wait for spring to hit in full force.
For the most part, I’m into shimmery blushes right now. As I mentioned in my cream shadow post (here), the look I want is fresh-faced, radiant, and on the minimal side. I love the Milani Baked Blushes – Luminoso is a huge favorite of mine, but I’m taking this in-between season as my opportunity to wear Berry Amore. It’s not really as berry-toned as I thought it’d be; in fact, it’s on the warm side. The sheen it adds to my cheeks is really beautiful though.
I’ve been reaching for NARS Orgasm a ton, mainly because I’m trying to hit pan on it in my Finish 17 in 2017 challenge (intro video here). But really, I think it’s a perfect blush for this time of year for a fresh look. It’s shimmery peachy-pink perfection and deserves all the hype it gets, though I’m a bit annoyed whenever I see NARS include it in like every blush palette they release.
One of my most favorite blushes ever is Hourglass Diffused Heat. It’s actually the blush that got me into blush since it contains some of their Diffused Light to counteract my redness. It’s a beautiful poppy pink that gives me an angelic sort of radiance. This is a very springy option, but I wanted to give it a head start since I love it so much.
I had to include a non-shimmery option, and that would be Urban Decay’s Fetish. This one is a matte but doesn’t look flat on my skin. It’s described as a “medium pink nude” and I really couldn’t describe it any better. This is slightly dark on me (but not too dark), so it’s perfect for these in-between months.
