My dry skin can look dull, especially in the winter. As I mentioned in my post about cream shadows, I’ve been forsaking my intricate eyeshadow routine to instead focus on a glowy base. Good skincare can only take me so far when I want to have a heavenly glow, so I’ve been seriously packing on illuminators to give my skin some life.
One of my favorite primers everrrr is Peter Thomas Roth 24K Gold Prism Cream. It has hyaluronic acid, so it makes my skin hydrated for a great base. On top of that, it makes my skin super glowy. You can check out my review for more details, but it’s an amazing combo of skincare and makeup.
I’ve been going pretty light on foundation lately. I love the Bobbi Brown Skin Foundation Stick this time of year. Application is a breeze and it has a very natural finish, as opposed to something too dewy which I can’t quite pull off. Guerlain Meteorites Baby Glow is a sheer foundation that I absolutely love. It’s glowy without being overly dewy, and has just enough coverage for my trouble areas.
On days when I want a bit more coverage, I like to mix a liquid illuminator in with my foundation. The Giorgio Armani Fluid Sheer (shade 2) is my go-to lately. It has a light amount of shimmer and is around my skin color, so it doesn’t really affect my foundation shade match. Natural glow. If I want to lighten my foundation a tad, I’ll throw in MAC Strobe Cream, a silvery white that brightens and adds radiance.
I can’t really not mention my beloved Algenist Luminizing Drops*, right? With these, we’re back to my love of products that are skincare + makeup (original review here). While the GA Fluid Sheer is only reasonable as a foundation mixer, these drops are vibrant enough to pop as spot highlighters too.
I’m so into cream highlighters for spot highlighting right now. My ColourPop Lunch Money has a huge dent in it right now. I am trying to finish it my my Finish 17 in 2017 challenge (intro video here) and I’m enjoying every minute of it. It builds up and up, but never gets stripey or lets me go overboard. The Marc Jacobs Glow Stick is a love of mine as well, just a tad brighter than CP’s.
I’m also working on finishing up a mini of Benefit Watt’s Up. It’s just a tad dark for me right now, but when I have slightly more color, it gives me a golden glow. That much closer to being J. Lo.

Of course, I’ll layer a glowy primer, illuminated foundation, and a cream, then still put a powder highlighter on top of all of that. Relying more heavily on liquid/cream products, I actually don’t look like a disco ball – everything looks radiant in a natural way. I’m really happy with my current glow routine!
