I never really got into the whole mineral makeup craze. Years ago, I’d see bareMinerals commercials and think it was all gimmicky. Now, I’m actually even more picky when it comes to makeup, but I’m also less afraid to try new or different things to me. Recently, I had the opportunity to try mineral makeup from a small company called Claré Blanc, and was surprised that I really enjoyed the overall experience using the products.
What drew me to Claré Blanc is that they promote individuality and self-care. This attitude is reflected in their ingredients and products, which are all natural and eco-friendly. They enrich their products with nourishing jojoba oil and silk powder (contains amino acids), claiming their products are great for sensitive and allergy-prone skin.
Luminizing Mineral Powder
How can I resist a highlighter? The shade I have is called Be Mine*, a white gold with silver flecks. The shimmer is quite prominent and sparkly, but I really love how this highlighter looks on my cheekbones. I generally apply the silky powder with a fan brush and dab with a damp beauty blender to make sure it doesn’t appear to be sitting on top of my skin. The resulting highlight looks almost wet, like a healthy radiance. It’s quite unique to me, skirting the line between natural and too much in all the right ways.
I have three of their silky soft eyeshadows*: two in the Satin finish and one in the Shimmer finish. Coral Rose, the shimmer, is a beautiful lid color because it is complex, with a hint of duochrome action. Mauve, a satin, is obviously my jam. It’s a great neutral purple-brown and I wear it often to shade my lower lashline and outer v. Royal Burgundy is not quite a burgundy; it’s a brighter red with orange tones. It’s a bit tougher for me to wear, but it’s soft enough that I can pull it off.
The formula of these shadows is easy to use. They are not crazy pigmented, which is my preference lately, and they blend well. I like to apply them over a cream base to bring out the dimension even more.
Superbalanced Foundation SPF15
I received samples of three shades of the foundation* (they say “care about you” on the lid, how awesome!). I have to give major credit to CB on this – there are 30 shades of this foundation. I have Neutral 230, Beige 340, and Buff 430. The first two can both work for me, though mixing them is my best bet. Like the other powders, these are super silky. Coverage is pretty light – my redness is not entirely covered. It doesn’t look cakey, just very natural. It’s great for a quick bit of something when I’m in a rush or on a minimal makeup day.
I have the foundation brush* and cone brush*. These each came in a little pouch, which was a nice touch. The handles are wooden, smooth, and very appealing, and the synthetic hairs are super soft. The foundation brush has a great density for applying their foundations. I primarily use it for blending my blush and contour, which works really well. The cone brush is a tapered brush that can be used on the eyes or for detail work on the face. I like it to blend my crease, as it’s a tad large for application for my small lid space. If you like to contour your nose, this would be perfect for that.
Altogether, I really enjoy these products from Claré Blanc! Perhaps my bias against mineral makeup is waning?! Claré Blanc is available on their website.
