This summer, I’ve been focusing more on minimal makeup. With less makeup comes less opportunity to sweat it off.
Generally, I have been keeping my base and eyes light, with just a pop of color and shine to my cheeks. Today I’m sharing a few of my go-to cheek products for this summer.
I’ve been sticking to a few old favorites recently – Hourglass Diffused Heat and Becca Flowerchild. The Hourglass blush is bright and happy, leaving an angelic flush on my cheeks. Flowerchild is similar to NARS Orgasm, a shimmery peachy-pink that is flattering and healthy.
Some newer favorites are cream products. I really enjoy the Glossier Cloud Paint formula [save 10% on your first order here] because it’s easy to build and blend. There was a bit of a learning curve to using them because a little goes a looooong way. Puff is a pretty bubblegum pink that brightens my complexion.
Then we have the Pixi MultiBalm in Baby Petal*. Even though it’s marketed as a multi-tasker, I only use this stick as a blush because it’s not my fave on lips. The color I have is a beautiful rosy nude that goes with anything. I swipe it directly on my face and blend with my fingers – simple.
I love bronzer to warm up my fair skin, especially since I haven’t seen the sun for real at all this summer. I really like Malibu Soleil from the Becca x Chrissy Tiegen palette*. I use the lightest hand with application and blend it with ease for just a hint of color.
Other than Malibu Soleil, I stick to my tried and true bronzer favorites: Benefit Hoola and Tom Ford Terra. If you have cooler skin, you have to try Terra! It has reddish undertones, so it’s incredibly flattering.
Of course, I love to glow, but I actually have been a bit more subdued with highlighting this summer. The Glossier Haloscope in Moonstone [save 10% on your first order here] has been a staple because it adds a subtle shine while looking like nothing on my cheeks.
Less subtle, I have been living for Marc Jacobs Dew Drops. These are super concentrated! The shine is almost metallic, but it’s not unnatural.
I hit major pan on ColourPop Lunch Money. I love this highlighter and put it everywhere. It is easy to build to a dramatic highlight, or leave as a little something-something.
When I really want to shine, I grab the Becca x Chrissy Tiegen palette*. Beach Nectar is sooo pretty. Since it is darker than my skin tone, I use a beautyblender to dab the color once on my cheeks to help it meld with my skin. It’s also a beautiful blush topper.
