The newest MAC Viva Glam collection is a follow-up (part 2) with the amazing Taraji P. Henson, is live today, September 7, 2017.
What is Viva Glam?
Since it’s such a great cause, I quickly mention what Viva Glam is. Viva Glam is a MAC’s groundbreaking AIDS campaign. According to MAC, “100% of the purchase price of any Viva Glam product goes toward the MAC AIDS fund.” The MAC AIDS fund disperses money to organizations that help people living with AIDS. This has been the case since 1994, when the first Viva Glam lipstick (a red) was released.
Now that we know how awesome MAC Viva Glam really is, let’s look at the second iteration of Taraji’s Viva Glam collection.
Viva Glam Taraji P. Henson 2
The collection consists of a lipstick and a gloss in pretty red packaging:
Viva Glam Taraji P. Henson 2 Lipstick* – “deep coppery brown with gold pearl” (frost); $17.50
Viva Glam Taraji P. Henson 2 Lipglass* – “bronze with gold pearl”; $17
Swatches of each individually are below, plus the gloss layered over the lipstick:
The lipstick isn’t the best match for me, but it has a ton of dimension and would look amazing on medium to deeper skin tones. The Lipglass is just about universally flattering. I thought the golden tones would be too warm for me, but it’s so pretty.
Formula-wise, the two are consistent with MAC’s typical quality. The frost lipsticks are shiny and comfortable. The Lipglass is a little sticky, but wears well and has gorgeous shimmer. Both have a light vanilla scent that I love.
