Every year, I look forward to the holidays: time with family, snow, food, and . . . the Beautylish Lucky Bag.
The Beautylish Lucky Bag is based on the Japanese tradition of a mystery grab bag (Fukubukuro). Beautylish offers a Lucky Bag for the new year, filled with items available in their shop. The Lucky Bag retails for $75 and promises at least $150 value of products inside.
I purchased my first Lucky Bag in 2016, but wasn’t crazy about what I got. The bag was $75 + $5 shipping (shipping has since gone up), and the value was $178. Don’t get me wrong, it was a great bag – but it wasn’t a great bag for me. That’s the risk you take!
Last year, Beautylish offered the XL bag for the first time, in very limited quantities, with priority access to those who spend too much. I was able to purchase the XL Lucky Bag and I was beyond amazed with it! It retailed for $150 + $7 shipping, and the value of my bag was over $400!
This year, I missed the XL Lucky Bag, but grabbed the regular Lucky Bag for $75 + $7 shipping. This year was the first in which Beautylish gave a choice for skin tone, light or dark. I chose the lighter bag.
The bags were said to ship “on or before January 12”. My bag shipped January 10 via UPS and weighed 1.3 lbs. The bags ship from the west coast and I’m on the east coast. It’s tough for me to avoid spoilers each year since I’m usually one of the last to get mine.
My bag arrived yesterday (January 17) and I’m ready to share what I got!
Beautylish Lucky Bag 2018
Cover FX Mattifying Prime & Set Kit
This set is so cute! It’s a great way to try Cover FX. I probably won’t be using any of the deluxe products in the kit because mattifying isn’t my goal with my dry skin.
Natasha Denona Lipstick Palette in Corals
→Available at Natasha Denona’s site for $42
A lip palette is a great product for makeup artists! I don’t use lip palettes myself though; I’m more of a “swipe-and-go” kind of girl. It seems like the Natasha Denona lip palettes are no longer available at Beautylish, which makes me feel a liiittle sketched out seeing it in my bag.
Oribe Dry Texturizing Spray
→Available at Beautylish for $22
I love this texture spray, but it’s so pricy, I rarely indulge in it! Oribe products smell amazing, and this spray gives my flat hair so much life. I’m definitely excited to get this in my bag!
Sulwhasoo First Care Activating Mask
→Available at Beautylish for $60/5 masks; approximate value: $12
This mask is supposed to deliver “optimum skin texture and instant moisture.” Umm – sign me up! I’m really looking forward to trying this sheet mask. It looks luxe and it’s not something I’d typically purchase for myself.
Viseart Theory Palette in Minx
→Available at Beautylish for $45
Viseart shadows are amazing, so I was really excited to see the brand in my bag! Sadly, I do already have this Minx Theory palette. I actually haven’t used it much because the colors are a bit warm for me. Still, I think a lot of people would be happy to receive this, so I think it’s a great addition for the Lucky Bag! I included swatches of my palette for anyone curious.
Wayne Goss Brush 10
→Available at Beautylish for $38
I loooove Wayne Goss brushes! They are so soft and high-quality. I didn’t already have Brush 10, which is a cheek brush. It’s supposed to be similar to one of my favorites, Brush 02. I’m happy to have it!
Total value: $188
The Beautylish Lucky Bag continues to be an amazing value for what you pay! Though I have one of the items and two of the others don’t suit me, I had a lot of fun as always with the anticipation.
Would you ever purchase a mystery bag like this?
