Pixi MatteLast Liquid Lips ReviewPixi Beauty recently launched a new range of liquid lipsticks in neutral shades. They sent me 5 colors of the MatteLast Liquid Lips* to try, so I thought I’d share my review today.

MatteLast Liquid Lips

What it is: extreme longwear, highly pigmented yet comfortable, this rosehip oil infused liquid lipstick quickly sets to a matte veil

One of the biggest drawbacks to a matte liquid lipstick is that they are generally uncomfortable. I was really excited to see the inclusion of rosehip oil for a more hydrating formula.Pixi MatteLast Liquid Lips Review

Shades + Swatches

There are 6 shades listed on PixiBeauty.com, but I have the 5 shades listed on Target’s site:

Au Naturelle – terracotta

Evening Rose – plum-rose

Matte Beige – neutral beige

Pastel Petal – pink beige

Really Rose – dusty rose

Seeing the neutral color range, I thought of many of Kat Von D’s Everlasting Liquid Lipsticks.

Comparisons of Pixi MatteLast Liquid Lips to Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipsticks

Pixi Au Naturelle is pretty similar to KVD Lolita 2, though many of the other shades are quite different. Swatching the shades next to each other, I instead noticed that the Pixi liquid lipsticks are less flat, more pigmented, and less streaky.

The MatteLast Liquid Lips glide very easily. The formula is thin, but pigmented in one swipe with no streaking. It takes a minute or more for the lipsticks to dry down, perhaps a little longer than some other brands.

I typically apply the color and then blot away any excess. The color is even and pigmented; I don’t usually use a second coat. The finish is matte, but not super flat – perhaps more of a satin-matte.

These also wear away pretty evenly, with no cracking or flaking. In terms of longevity, these last about 4 or 5 hours, though they don’t always make it through eating. Not the most long-wearing, but not unreasonable.

The rosehip oil does help reduce drying on my lips. I find these to be probably the most comfortable of any matte liquid lipstick I’ve tried.

I should mention that these do smell like rose. I’m not sure if it’s from the rosehip oil or added fragrance. The scent goes away as the color dries down.

Also, the applicator is a little flimsy. It works, but it can cause a mess if you press down too hard (it will sort of bend out of shape).Pixi MatteLast Liquid Lips Review

I am super impressed with the Pixi MatteLast Liquid Lipsticks! They are pigmented, easy to apply, and very comfortable. The shade range is small, but the shades are all very wearable. They’re a great value too. For $14, you get 0.24 oz; Kat Von D’s liquid lipsticks are 0.22 oz for $20.

Pixi’s liquid lipsticks are available at Target and PixiBeauty.com
