New from Covergirl, Part 3: Lips

Covergirl Lip Glosses and Liquid Lipsticks ReviewCovergirl sent me a PR package with a ton of their new products. I’ve been testing everything for the past couple of months so I could share my complete thoughts!

I’ve posted about the face products and eye products, and now we have lips! There are 3 complete collections, plus a random lip topper.

Katy Kat Gloss

What it is: Delivering thick and luxurious lips that are perfect for any occasion, Katy Kat Gloss gives you the shiny lips that you’ve been looking for with a soft and creamy, moisturized feel.Covergirl Katy Kat Lip Glosses Review

Shades + Swatches

There are 12 glosses in this line, all with cat-themed names:

White Catillac

Tabby Tease

Ninth Life

Wine Feline

Kitty Karma

Candy Cat

Purple Paws

Indigo Kat

Cobalt Kitty

Many of these shades are super bold. Some shades appear to have glitter in them (Cateloupe, Kitty Karma, Purple Paws), while most others just look shiny.

This is a thicker, sort of spongey gloss. There is decent color pigmentation, but it can be a little tough to apply evenly with the small doe-foot applicator. I usually use my lips to press the color together to get it to look more even. Still, the bolder shades (like the white/blues) end up looking pretty patchy no matter what.

These do feel a bit thicker on my lips, but in a protective way. They don’t dry out my lips, but don’t add a ton of moisture. Instead, I put down a lip balm and top with this gloss to seal in moisture.

I noticed that the reds (Ninth Life and Wine Feline) traveled outside of my lip lines. Using a liner helped prevent the feathering.

I personally enjoy the vanilla cupcake-type scent, but I know that bothers a lot of people, so I thought I would mention it.

The packaging is so cute, but many of the colors are a bit bold for my taste. The formula isn’t really my favorite; I usually prefer a thinner gloss that packs even more shine. I’ve mostly been reaching for Cateloupe, the most “wearable” of all the shades. I also like Kitty Karma a lot.

Available at Ulta for $7.99 and Target for $6.99

These liquid lipsticks have a lightweight mousse formula. Application is easy to control with the doe-foot applicator. Color is opaque with one swipe, except with the darker shades. The dark shades go on patchy the first time around and require a second application to look more even. Unfortunately, I can’t get LBD to show up as a true black.

It takes about a minute for these to dry down and feel a little bit drying. Prepping with lip balm helps. There is no transfer once dry. However, I’ve noticed that I can’t press my lips together with these.

Color lasts well – at least 4 hours. When the color wears away, it’s pretty even, starting in the middle of my lips. At no point have I noticed my lips look dry, though with time the dryness increases.

I really enjoy the nudes from this range, especially Cakewalk and Insider! They’re great for everyday and wear pretty well, especially considering the price.

Available at CVS for $8.99

This formula is the same as with the Queen mattes: lightweight, mousse-y, and right in the middle in terms of how drying these are. The only difference is that there is a bit more of a scent. It’s a tad like a cheap fruity-floral, but it doesn’t bother me too much.

Again, I like the neutrals here. Current Nude is my favorite everyday nude, while Ballerina is a nice light nude. The dark colors and bolds go on patchy, so I’d skip those. If you like any of the colors and scent doesn’t bother you, these are not bad.

Available at Ulta for $7.99 and Target for $6.99

Melting Pout Glitz

What it is: This glitz lipstick is infused with nourishing ingredients and glides on easily for a smooth finish. Add high impact, super rich color with a glittery finish to your lips.

There are 2 shades of these top coats: Double Platinum and Golden Girl. Double Platinum is a silvery-white shade, while Golden Girl is a warmer, light pearly gold.

I just have Double Platinum to share with you:

This is kind of like a super glittery gloss in a squeeze tube. There are lots of sparkles with a shiny, minimal base color. It’s quite comfortable. I’ve been using this as a topper over the darker liquid lipsticks for glitter and comfort.

This is pretty fun! For someone who wants to try glittery lips, this would be a great inexpensive option to try it out.

Available at Ulta for $7.99 and Target for $6.99

It was a lot of fun playing with all of these lip products! Are you more of a neutral or bold lip lover? ↓
