Marc Jacobs Enamored Hydrating Lip Gloss Sticks ReviewI was browsing Sephora a few weeks ago and spotted the new Marc Jacobs Enamored Hydrating Lip Gloss Sticks. I hadn’t heard anything about them at the time, so I picked up two shades to try. Today, I’m sharing my thoughts on these new gloss sticks!

Lip Gloss Sticks

Available at Sephora | $28/0.074 oz

What it is: A sheer lip gloss in a stick with an irresistible, melt-on, cushiony texture that delivers conditioning color with a high-shine finish.

These gloss sticks are complementary to MJ’s Hi-Shine Lip Lacquer Lip Glosses. A lot of people love these lip glosses, but I found them to be too thick, sticky, and just not comfortable to wear.

The gloss sticks are supposed to be a lighter option without the stickiness of a traditional gloss.

Shades + Swatches

There are currently a total of 8 shades in the lineup. Following are the two shades I grabbed:

Mocha Choco-lata! – pinky nude

Sugar Sugar – champagne-gold shimmer

I love both of these shades! Mocha Choco-lata! is a great my lips but better shade, while Sugar Sugar is a lighter nude that doesn’t look frosty on me. They’re not quite as glossy as some glosses, but they’re stunning.

I thought I’d make a couple of quick notes on the packaging since it wasn’t quite what I thought it would be.

These look just like the lip glosses. The black part is actually the gloss stick, so the colored part is the lid. The stick just comes straight out of the lid. I tried to twist to open the gloss stick for some reason and ended up cracking the lid.Marc Jacobs Enamored Hydrating Lip Gloss Sticks Review

I love the shape of the lip gloss stick bullet – it’s kind of like a teardrop that fits my lips perfectly.  To get more product, you twist up (there is a click). Unfortunately, the gloss cannot be twisted back down.

The lip gloss sticks are basically slippery lipsticks. They glide on easily, depositing a sheer wash of color with lots of shine.

I really love how these feel on. These are slightly protective without being sticky and it’s easy to press lips together. They feel a lot like a lip balm, but a little less hydrating.

These don’t last very long – probably similar to how long a gloss might last. Of course, they transfer while eating and drinking, but it’s not as much of a disaster as most traditional glosses.Marc Jacobs Enamored Hydrating Lip Gloss Sticks Review

I absolutely love these gloss sticks! They look beautiful on and provide a no-fuss glossy lip while being very comfortable. These are a minimal makeup lover’s dream.

I do take issue with the packaging though. I can’t believe that the gloss sticks can’t be retracted after being twisted up. You either have to apply the product close to the base, or risk twisting up too much and causing damage. I haven’t had any issues myself, but I can see this being very annoying to a lot of people.

The price seems kind of high for how much product you get ($28/0.074 oz vs. his lipsticks $30/0.12 oz vs. his glosses $28/0.16 oz). Maybe these can’t be retracted because MJ doesn’t want us to see how little product there is?

Still, these have been a staple in my bag for the past few weeks. I’m tempted to grab a few more shades, but I do think I had originally picked up the shades I would wear most anyway.
