elf Cosmetics Eyeshadow Palettes ReviewI think it’s been about 10 years since my first ever big beauty haul. I ordered online from e.l.f. Cosmetics and was so excited when a huge box arrived with about 20 items that set me back only $20. Many of the products were misses, but there were a few gems (like the brushes). As a budding beauty addict, it was a great way for me to try out a bunch of different colors and ideas without breaking the bank.

I had that same excitement recently when I opened a PR package from e.l.f.! The package contained 3 eyeshadow palettes, a mascara, a liquid eyeliner, and an eyelash curler. I will only share my thoughts on the eyeshadows, but the others are pretty much misses for me. The liquid liner is actually quite budge-proof, but the product does not come out consistently for me. The mascara doesn’t do much of anything for my lashes and the eyelash curler is only okay – not the best for my hooded eye shape.

elf Cosmetics Eyeshadow Palettes Review

The 3 shimmery eyeshadow palettes are decade-themed: 70’s Feels, 80’s Vibes, and 90’s Mood. Keep reading for my review of these 3 palettes!

elf Cosmetics 70's Feels Eyeshadow Palette Review

70’s Feels is a fairly neutral palette. The shades don’t have names, so I’ll share my best efforts at descriptions going left to right:

A. Rose gold

B. Deep gold

C. Mint green

D. Light, icy silver

E. Rosy taupe

F. Chocolate bronze

This palette is my favorite of the three because I loooove the shades. It’s sort of reminiscent of the Natasha Denona Green-Brown Palette 28 to me. It is so gorgeous for everyday makeup looks!

I especially love the fifth shade (E) – it makes a neutral look interesting. In general, these shadows are pigmented, blendable, and last all day. I wish (D) had a little more pop for the inner corner; it ends up fading a bit by the end of the day. Mint green (C) could have a little more pigment as well, but it is pretty for softer looks.

80’s Vibes*

$10 | 6 x 1.2 g | available at elfcosmetics.com

What it is: Channel the radical, vibrant 80’s with this lustrous eyeshadow palette. These 6 bold shimmer shades are formulated to be silky smooth, ultra blendable and luminous to make your glam-rocker dreams a reality.

elf Cosmetics 80's Vibes Eyeshadow Palette Review

80’s Vibes really takes on the fun, bright attitude of the 80’s. Shades left to right:

A. Icy white

B. Coppery gold

C. Peachy pink

D. Aqua with fine, cool-toned glitter

E. Navy blue with bright blue sparkles

F. Medium plum with purple & pink glitter

I was a little nervous about these brights, but they’re mostly quite good. The dark blue (E) swatches a bit patchy, but goes onto eyes better than expected. It does fade within a few hours though. The plum (F) loses its sparkle, looking flat. Other than those two, I have no complaints about these! (A) is perfect for the inner corner and rivals intense shades like MAC Nylon. I really love the peachy pink shade (C) for a pretty, feminine look.

90’s Mood*

$10 | 6 x 1.2 g | available at elfcosmetics.com

What it is: Create #ThrowbackThursday any time with this pigmented, lustrous eyeshadow palette inspired by the moody, grungy 90’s. These 6 deep shimmer shades are formulated to be silky smooth, ultra blendable, and vibrant so you can create looks that will stand out in the mosh pit.

elf Cosmetics 90's Mood Eyeshadow Palette Review

90’s Mood is all sorts of grungy. I knew this was the 90’s palette without even seeing the name. Shades left to right:

A. Reddish cranberry

B. Copper

C. Olive green with golden shimmer

D. Coppery bronze

E. Silver taupe with cool sparkles

F. Deep black with fine glitter flecks

e.l.f. Cosmetics Eyeshadow Palette – 90’s Mood

This palette is great for a smoky eye, but isn’t really limited to that. I have no complaints about the performance of any of these shades. Even the black (F) is very good! It’s super buttery, smooth, and pigmented. Overall, really solid!

I’m very impressed with these decade-inspired eyeshadow palettes from e.l.f.! The shadows feel similar to those from high-end brands. There are some pigmentation issues with only a few of the shades. Still, I’d say these are a great buy for $10 per palette!
